This is Not Photography

Jerry anticipated photoshop before photoshop even existed; he was ahead of his time. Jerry was interested in the psychological aspects of photographs and instead of realistic images, he wanted to use his creativity and imagination to create surreal and mind boggling images. Here is an example of one of his pieces.

“Jerry Uelsmann creates his surreal photographs in a series of steps, masking and exposing different areas of photosensitive paper as he changes negatives. “

Maggie Taylor seems to be a photoshop expert and most of her work is primarily created by photoshop. Here is an example of one of her images.

“Maggi Taylor began her photographic career through the use of old snapshots, objects, and bits of text to create three-dimensional collages which she then photographed.” These techniques resulted in kind of fantasy and surreal images that were obviously created by a computer and editing software.
