Civil Rights Movement

This photograph, by Charles Moore, captures a moment in the Civil Rights Movement, but it doesn’t represent nearly how violent the whole period of time was during this movement. This image shows police dogs attacking a demonstrator during an anti segregation protest. What makes this photograph so effective is how the dogs seem so much more violent than the police officers, but only because the officers have complete control over the dogs. What is really moving to me is that this image looks very similar to images that I have seen of the Black Lives Matter protest, which is sad because we are more than 50 years from this time and we are still in similar positions.
