The image above, titled Leaves Over Couch, was created by artist Jerry Uelsmann. In the documentary “Jerry Uelsmann and Maggie Taylor: This is Not Photography”, Uelsmann’s process for creating his images is described. He layers negatives from different photographs on top of one another, keeping the parts he wants to create a dreamlike, surreal photo.

Maggie Taylor’s work above titled The Patient Gardener is a great representation of her overall work. Like Uelsmann, she goes for a surrealistic approach, but instead of layering negatives she scans her photos and layers them using photoshop.
