Segregated drinking fountains in the county courthouse, Albany, Georgia, 1962

This photo illustrates the systemic racism in America in such an understated but powerful way. It isn’t the most provoking or historically significant but it shows how pervasive white privilege was. This is even more shocking that it is a courthouse meant to serve justice while there is such obvious disparity in even the drinking fountains. They are not only separate but unequal in level and quality.
