Blog Post #23 Book PDF

Impressions of Ancient Southern China is a photo series of ancient Chinese architectures from the Qing dynasty and some typical Chinese sculptures and patterns in Southern China. These photos were taken in a classical Lingnan architecture called Keyuan Garden at Dongguan, Guangdong, China. Lingnan architecture appears only in the Southern Chinese Provinces which associated with the Cantonese people. It is an important component of ancient Chinese architecture and could give the audience a preliminary impression of ancient China.

Keyuan Garden is one of the 4 representatives of Lingnan Garden. The photographer Chuchu Li chose this subject because she grew up in Southern China and was very familiar with the style and culture of Cantonese people. She wanted to give the audience an impression of other architectural styles of China other than the style of the Imperial Palace in Beijing.

  1. All of your photos are so beautifully in focus and well lit. I really like the photo of the Koi fish under the water and the colorful umbrellas from below. All of the photos go together in the book but are different enough to keep interest throughout. Well done!
