Film Photography

This photo taken by Henri Cartier-Bresson was interesting to me because of the depth that it has.  Due to the fact that it was taken from a very high vantage point, specifically the top of the Notre Dame Cathedral, there is a spectacular view of the city below, which is fully captured in the photograph.  The true subjects of the picture are the students sitting in the foreground and they by themselves make for an interesting composition, the first couple which the viewer initially sees are kissing and then a few steps below them are the rest of the school children who are involved in much more casual interactions.  What is interesting about this is that the couple in the foreground, despite being in this massive shot with a beautiful view, seem to be in their own frame, separated by steps.  All of these parts together give the picture a very successful composition and a very interesting story.
