Baktana

In 1996, Ami Drach and Dov Ganchrow combined their talents to form an Israeli-based design studio located in South Tel Aviv. One of their lesser-known projects, Baktana, is a series of miniature figurines juxtaposed with found objects, creating little narratives. Every image from this project is incredibly strong from the angle to the lighting. My favorite image is of two miniature toy army soldiers shooting their rifles through silver pencil sharpeners which are meant to look like barricades with shooting holes. It’s so amazing that through the use of blur, angles, and perspective the artist can create an entire scene using only a handful of objects that we would never imagine could come together and produce such a strong shot as these do.
