Well, Well, Well: LUAG

Well, Well, Well: Picturing Wellness from the LUAG Collection

Exhibition concept statement: Wellness is often described as a dynamic relationship between mind, body, and spirit.  In the era of COVID-19, we are also confronting additional layers of social and biological entanglement that contribute to our collective sense of health and safety.  Picturing “wellness” takes on many forms, and often exists in tension changing bodies: growing, confronting illness, or adapting to change.  This exhibition salutes Lehigh University’s new College of Health, and asks the question, what might it look like to be well?

Pedro Meyer, The Fall-Self-Portrait. Captured 2002, Modified 2002, Printed 2008

Upon looking through the collection, Well, Well, Well: Picturing Wellness from the LUAG Collection in Fairchild Martindale Study Gallery and Rauch Business Center I have chose a photograph taken by Photographer Pedro Meyer. This, what we know today as a “selfie” was taken from an interesting angle which is why it caught my eye. I like how his body is horizontal and takes up half of the photograph. In contrast, the top half of the photo has two people vertical. The lighting in the photo creates interesting shadows on the figures. Both his face and the background is in full detail.
