Journey into Night is an image created by Jerry Uelsmann in 2006. It features a brick floor with a tree stump growing out of a break in the bricks. To the bottom right of the tree is a small crow looking up at the top of the image. As the eye moves up from the base of the tree stump the tree shifts into two hands cradling the nests of a bird with an egg nestled in the center. The background is this image is completely black, with no gradients, just solid black.
He creates images like these not with photoshop but with a technique of combining different negatives in a darkroom.
Abdullah’s Prayer is an image created by Maggie Taylor. In the center of the image it features a young girl standing in the middle of a field. She has short brown hair, a purple dress, and she is not wearing shoes. She is also holding a doll dressed similarly to her on the left side of her body. In the background of the image we see two trees on either side of the girl. By the left tree there is a dog standing on its hind legs looking up at the sky.
Unlike her husband, Maggie Taylor creates her works digitally using photoshop.
