Both artists used surreal imagery to create a narrative through photography. Their goal is to create work that they find aesthetically pleasing. Jarry Uelsmann was interested in the psychological aspects of a photograph and using photography as an expressive medium. He would use collage and multiple images to combine images and combined them with enlargers, negatives, masking, diffusion, burning and dodging to create a well-executed image.
Maggie Taylor uses digital art to create images. She uses a flatbed scanner to record objects she collects. She then combines these scans with digital art to tell a narrative.
