Andres Serrano creates some controversial work. One of this most famous pieces it titled “Piss Christ” created in 1987. Many people credit Serrano for creating the “prototype of the use of shock in contemporary art”. Some Christians are extremely offended that the artist has urinated onto the image of Christ. However, on the other side it has also been taken as using a traditional form of associating Christ’s body with bodily fluids. On one side you have atheists that celebrate the insult to Christ, and the Christians that are highly offended by the image and then the individuals that see the traditional theme of using fluids.
