Sosi Korian Blog Post #18

I thought that this particular photograph was very interesting and meaningful. As I look at this photo I can see a woman in a psychiatric ward sitting in her bed as she looks out her window. As I analyze this photo I can see that this woman looks as if she is occupied by the thoughts in her head. She seems as if she is thinking hard as she gazes outside her window. Perhaps she is thinking about how she ended up in a psychiatric hospital. The photos frame is very interesting as well. Only including the upper half of the woman allows the audience to really focus on her facial expression which allows the viewer to feel the seriousness and weight of the her thoughts. Through the facial expression on the woman Mark is able to convey a strong sense emotion. The black and white of the photo adds to the dark feel of the image and the simplicity allows the viewer to be creative when thinking about what this women could have on her mind.
