Erica, Water Assignment

Water Photography – Erica F

Split Tone – Orange Highlights and Blue Shadows Contrast, Long Exposure
Long Exposure – couple standing on the beach watching the sunset
Sundown

This is my favorite photo in my set. I really like how dark everything is compared the the pink/orange sun. I know we were supposed to make everything into black and white conversions, but I couldn’t do that to this photo. I felt like since there was so much dark contrast and the spectrum of colors around the sun, this photo wouldn’t be good at all if I got rid of the color.

POLAROID

I could not figure out a way I liked this photo with the edit. I think there needs to be a bit more contrast, but I wanted it to look dusty and old and hard to look at like a really old photo.

I had a really hard time with this assignment.

I had a really hard time with this assignment. First it was the neutral density filters that I didn’t have, then my car broke down so I couldn’t go anywhere, and then all four of my batteries stopped working so I had to replace them. I also thought all the images had to be long exposure of water, but now looking at my peer’s photos, I am not sure. I am happy this assignment is over! It was really difficult for me to post images because I don’t think they are of the quality that I would normally post.

  1. These are really well composed! I think your split-tone picture does a good job of showing the motion of the water and I like that some of the seagulls are pretty still and in focus while you can tell that others have been moving. Your picture of the couple standing on the beach is also interesting, I think the colors are really cool.
