Oct. 5, Motion in Water

Gradient Map

In this image I wanted to capture the motion of the water falling over the ledge and onto the waterfall. I think the water falling over the edge looks very serene but then it when it reaches the waterfall it looks very fast.

Colorizing

I think this looks like something you might find in Japan. The stillness of the rocks create a very calming border along with the trees which I chose to make in color. I think the green of the trees adds to the composition because green is very friendly and inviting color and does not overly distract from the waterfall. In this image the water on the waterfall has clearly been moving for a long time due to the motion blur but the water of the river seems much more still.

Hue Saturation

I attempted to capture a close up of the waterfall in the picture, making the whole image seem very fast and rushed. This water in this image is wild and rushed; nothing about this image is cool and calm.

  1. I really like the locations you chose for your shots- the long shutter technique worked out incredibly well for the spots you chose! I also really like the editing technique you decided on for the first shot
