Sept. 16, Street Photography

Sts, Peter & Paul Church, North BeachMark Citret2001Gelatin silver print on vellum (Kodak Polyfiber A)Gift of George Stephanopoulos

This image relies on its unique usage of lines and geometry to make a strong composition. There are no human figures in this image which I find really interesting of street photography. I love that it captures a unique perspective of where the photographer was, focusing on architecture rather than human subjects.

The way the shadow of the handrail zigzags across the picture is what initially draws you in. In this photo, the more you look at it, the more you see. There are so many different lines, and different kinds of lines, and all of them are perfect and unique. Every line and shape was meant to be there.
