I found it really interesting that Jeff Wall chooses to approach photography through the same lens paintings often are. Instead of searching for the shot, he creates the shot, and often his photographs have references to many trademark pieces of art. For example, Wall’s 1986 print titled “The Storyteller” has been compared to Manet’s Les Dejeuner sur l’Herbe. I like how Wall’s shots challenge the viewer to think which aspects of the photograph may have been staged as well.
