The photo I chose was taken by Jacques Lowe in 1960. It is titled “Busy Journalists on Election Night at NBC”. I can infer from the year this photo was taken that this was the night John F. Kennedy was elected. In this photo I can see that there are many journalists gathered around a large table. They are conversing amongst many papers and NBC microphones in front of them. This photograph shows the behind the scenes work of the media which is a really unique way to show all the effort these journalist put into their jobs. As I continue to analyze this photo further I notice the clear contrast between the black and white details of this photo. I think that this is really interesting because it highlights all the different details on the desk of these journalists. This allows the viewer to capture more of the commotion and stress of election night which I think is what the photographer was trying to highlight. I also noticed how the photo was framed in an interesting way. The center focus of the photo seems to be more on the paperwork and further from the journalists. I think this is another technique used by the photographer to really capture the significance of this photo which is the importance of the work that was done in the media during during this night.
