This black and white photograph from Ansel Adams stood out to me apart from others in his collection. The depth of field extends far back and has a lot of detail. The slight symmetry of the two mountains in the back and the big rock in the front of the picture pulls the picture all together. The strongest part of this composition is the lighting. Ansel’s ability to capture the rays of light coming through the clouds is amazing. Also, the way the light reflects off the rocks give you a sense of what time of the day it was when he took this picture.
