Alexander, Short, Long and Creative Depth of Field

Short, Long, and Creative DoF

OAKLEY is my short DoF. Taken with my 50mm that I like to use for portraits with a f/2. I used photoshop’s stamp tool to remove clutter in the background and increased the blacks and saturation in order to improve the contrast of Oakley and Mark against the white wall. I then applied a mask to Oakley’s face and increased the exposure, sharpness, and clarity slightly.

MIDNIGHT is my long DoF. I took that with my wide angle with a f/22. The shutter speed was 30 seconds.

MIDDAY is my creative DoF submission. Taken with a zoom lens with an aperture of f/5.6. I then used the brush tool to select regions where I wanted to improve my tilt-shift effect.

  1. The midnight image captures long DOF perfectly. I love the flare effect on the street light in the background. The angle of the image is interesting and effective as well.
