Blog Post #6: Part 2

Ansel Adams
American, 1902 – 1984
Untitled (Reflections in River)
c. 1930

This photo by Ansel Adams shows the motion in water at a specific time. With that being said, the way in which the water is radiating outward in a circular motion implies that a rock or stone had been thrown into the water and as the viewer we are seeing the effects after. The water is reflecting the trees and landscape. We get a sense of serenity through the photograph as the only motion in water is from whatever hit the water on the right. This splash of water is a small spec of a large body of water, but yet so powerful in this composition. The choice in black and white brings a sense of calmness to this photograph.
