The image above is named Tehran 2006 and was taken by Mitra Tabrizian. The composition of this photo focuses on the contrast between light and dark. The people seem to be the main point of this photo and therefore the artist makes sure that they stand out. Since the photo consists of mostly lighter and nude colors, the darker outfits are able to clearly stand out from the background. This is helpful because it highlights the people and their placement which exactly what the artists wants the audience to be playing attention to. It is clear that there is a lot of information within this photo and one of the most important parts that Tabrizian wants us to recognize is the structure of the people. This is because it shows isolation and exile which are two more major topics she concentrated on throughout her photography. I noticed that the people seem to be placed in random areas which would support a feeling of loneliness. They are even standing in front of their leaders who they ironically cannot find structure in front of either. It almost seems as if they are trying to demonstrate some sort of change in society though an unorganized protest. This would make sense as social upheaval is another major concept this photographer focused on.
