This composition, by Diane Arbus is titled An empty movie theater, N.Y.C., 1971. The choice for depth of field in this photograph really contributes to the composition because the artist’s goal, as understood from the title, is to show the emptiness of the theatre. With long depth of field, it shows the majority of the room and I would say it’s focus point is the blank white screen on the stage. The white screen also adds to it’s purpose because it gives the feeling of emptiness, and the screen is also completely “empty”.
