Henry Callahan
In these photos Callahan uses lighting a composition very effectively in that he takes a seemingly simple visual and transforms in by the way he takes the photo. Because of the way he took the shot, two or three rocks on a beach becomes a whole landscape rather than one tiny part of the beach. The way you can see the shadows of the cone shape left behind from the water conveys a strong sense of movement in the picture. Similarly the small changes in the sand in other parts of the picture make it much more dynamic rather than a flat visual that is all at the same depth.
Good examples. You can also read the scale as large or small relative to human scale.
