“Eleanor” by Harry Callahan (American, Detroit, Michigan 1912–1999 Atlanta, Georgia) has beautiful composition and the image is so unique and stunning. It is not fully clear what is happening in this photo but the silhouette of the woman in the middle is much smaller than the bush that surrounds her. The woman is framed by the window she is standing in but also by the bushes. The lines of the twigs or grass all tend to be pointing inwards at her making great use of leading lines. It also uses a really unique perspective as it is really hard to get a sense of where you are seeing this picture from. The lighting in this picture is important because the woman is silhouetted which means the light has to be coming from behind her. The light coming from behind her also illuminates the grass/bush.

He experimented with strong lighting effects and multiple exposures during this period. Good analysis!
