Short Depth of Field – focused only on the two subjects, the background is completely out of focus. This photograph limits the focus to only the two people in which the viewer can really take a good look at how these people are dressed, what they are eating, what they looks like, and their facial expressions. While you can see that there are tree-like figures in the background, they are very blurry and you can still tell that they are outdoors, but that is not the focus of the image.
Long Depth of Field – this photo is entirely in focus. The viewer can see every single seat and the screen and even the small details of the folds in the curtains behind it. This showcases the emptiness in the theatre, by making it clear that none of the seats are empty. It is sharp and clean, and lonely. This photo is strong in my opinion, because it is focus and covers a wide range of the theatre.
Good examples of short and long depth of field. I’m a little confused though – none of thee seats are empty?
I don’t see anyone in the theatre, thus the seats are empty.
