Composition and Lighting, Hannah

Blog post #3: Part 2

Trailer Camp Children, Richmond, California, Ansel Easton Adams (American, San Francisco, California 1902–1984 Carmel, California), Gelatin silver print

The lighting in the photograph immediately grabs my attention. The three boys are positioned on the right side of the frame, making the photograph more appealing. Each one of the figures has a glimpse of lighting on their faces, grabbing the attention of the viewer on is various areas. The composition of the little boy is what is most interesting to me. The two older boys have their eyes on one thing, while the eyes of the youngest boy in the front is directly towards the camera. It seems as if the boys are in fear and that the youngest boy in the front is unaware of what truly is occurring. The contrast between light and dark in various different locations of the frame make for a more amusing photograph.
