How to Get Sharper Photos

In this article Darlene Hildebrandt gives six tips on how to get sharper photos as a beginner photographer. The six tips that Hildebrandt names are:

  1. Use the appropriate focus mode (either single shot, continuous, auto focus, or manual focus).
  2. Use focus point mode (know when to use single point, and when to use zone/multi-point).
  3. Use drive mode (know when to use single or continuous).
  4. Use a large aperture (especially in areas with low light).
  5. Focus on an area with contrast.
  6. When shooting portrait photography focus on the eyes of a person.

At the end of the article she also gives some tips on advanced options for taking sharper photos. One of the tips is using the back button focus mode. She also includes a link to her webinar on the subject and lays out an action plan for beginners to practice taking sharp photos with the techniques she has outlined in the article.
