Chicago 2, Chicago Illinois, 1970
Aaron Siskind’s Chicago 2 was shot in the city of Chicago Illinois in 1970. This picture was shot in black and white and features what appears to be the side of a building. Most of the shot is black except for the sky (outlining the top of the wall), and eight white rectangular shapes on the facade of the building. Though the image is very simple, there is incredible detail on the surface of the wall. The wall is made up of bricks and some kind of white plaster towards the middle of the wall. These shapes appear to be some kind of filling that covers what used to be an opening in the side of the building, maybe windows or loading bays.
You could also describe the relative symmetry of the white shapes and tthe small vs. larger rectangles, otherwise well done.
