Capa shows a mother and child as one group of the the many immigrants in Haifa at the time. It is a hot and barren landscape which is even clearer when looking at their lightweight clothes and the fact that the mother is carrying the suitcase on her shoulder to offer her some shade. There is only one small suitcase light enough to carry above her head indicating that they have very few belongings. The boys hold on his mothers skirt and confident walks gives a sense that they have been walking a long time. Capa has many famous photos of historical moments and iconic people but there is a sense of personality and emotion in all of his subjects that shine through. His angles and positioning of the lens also frequently lends to the sense that he was not imposing on people but just hovering around these moments in time capturing them.
Salgados photography documents the poor and powerless class as well as nature in dramatic black and white photos. In contrast with Capa, this photography is apocalyptic and subject seems so be on a grander scale.
