What attracted me to Henri Cartier-Bresson’s work was his ability to effectively capture emotion. I love this picture showing a little boy in France picking up some wine, for his family hopefully, and giving off an immense amount of pride and joy. You can even see the girls in the background looking happy and most likely boosting his confidence. Rock on little man!
Film is still very relevant in the digital world. When I’m carrying around my DSLR I always stress over getting the perfect image, and in doing so I potentially miss out on the other things around me. It almost gives me a microscopic point of view. In contrast, carrying around my film camera I don’t stress too much over each shot. This gives me the chance to take many more photos of many different settings and subjects. This is something I forget to do when I’m shooting digitally, and I imagine other photographers also have noticed this as well.
