Sosi Korian Blog Post #21

I chose this photograph by Henri Cartier-Bresson because I feel like the emotion in the photograph is very strong. This made me feel connected to it. At first glance, one can see a young boy with a smile on his face. The boy looks happy and peaceful. I also really like how the photo is taken on a tilted angle. I think that this angle adds to the composition and draws people to the photo. As I continue to analyze I realize that this photograph is a short depth of field shot. I think that this depth of field really allows a viewer to focus on the young boy and capture his emotion the way that I did. I also think that the fact that the photo is in black and white really adds to it because it again allows the reader to focus on the boy rather than possible color distractions. I think that this piece could be relevant to a digital artist today because it highlights how important it is to capture happiness in today’s world. I believe that it is critical for photographers to be able to capture moments like this one especially with all the chaos in the world right now. Photographers can learn from what they are capturing and make a difference in someone else’s life who looks at their work.
