This photograph is by Wang Quinsong. He is known as a contemporary Chinese artist. His photographs are known to address the rapidly changing society of China. More specifically, in this photograph he is dialing in on the Cultural Revolution. He set up this wall of posters that could be found on the streets during the Cultural Revolution. These posters were put up by the rival Red Guard factions during the revolution. This photograph of him setting up the wall can be found at the exhibition “When Worlds Collide” in New York. This wall was actually the set at a rented movie sound stage, just to put to scale how large this wall of posters truly is.
