One Night in Bangkok, Trey Ratcliff, Sanam Luang, Bangkok, Bangkok, November 2006

This photo, One Night in Bangkok, taken by Trey Ratcliff is a stunning image of Wat Arun, a famous Buddhist temple in Thailand. The composition is what stands out most to me in this photo. The way that the clouds in the background perfectly mirror the figure of the tall tower in the left third of the image seems surreal to me. Additionally, the smaller tower to the right of the larger tower is also being mirrored by the clouds in the background. The clouds’ outline of the temple also serves other purposes than just looking incredible. It frames the temple. Even though the temple is not the closest thing to the camera, the clouds in the background and the rays of light act as a way to guide the viewer’s eye to the temple.
