In this photograph by Wing Qingsong, he is showing how he remembers the cultural revolution in China where posters were pasted up around the city by Red Guard factions. He painstakingly redrew what those posters looked like and rented out a Beijing movie stage to set the scene. It is such a wide shot that the enormity of how this situation felt is more clearly depicted. The zigzag steps offer intrigue as well as the assembly of people working on hanging up the posters that seem small in comparison to the massive walls. The artist himself is also shown in the photo on the top of a ladder with his back to the viewer speaking through a megaphone.
