Sosi, Water Assignment

Sosi Korian Blog Post #8

This edit is spit tone. I wanted to capture the black and white contrast of the photo along with a little bit of color to add to the composition.
This edit is duotone. I wanted to bring in some more blue into this photo and I thought that this combination of tones really highlighted the bubbles in the water.
This edit is channel mixing. I thought that channel mixing would be good for this photo because it darkened the background a lot which allowed for the water to be more highlighted.
This edit is hue saturation. By adjusting the hue on this image I was able to really highlight all the different bubbles. The black and white contrast allowed for me to see clearly all the tiny
details of the water.

Here are my water photos. The first one is split tone, the second image is duotone, the third image is channel mixing, and the last photo is hue saturation. Below I have a few more of my water photos that I like.

I also added here my polaroid edit example. I wanted to include this in my water blog because I really liked the way it turned out. The photo was originally a reflection in a pool and I though that once I did the polaroid edit on it the texture was highlighted very nicely.
I have also included my gradient map edit. I thought that the texture in this photo was very strong as well. I also really liked the contrast between the lighter and the darker parts of this image. The shadows from a tree that is above this water contributed nicely to the photos composition.
Here is my colorizing edit. I like this approach because I think that the the bright blue of the water is a nice touch next to the black and white of the rest of the photo.

  1. The fourth photo you selected is really intriguing to me- its abstract in a way where I can tell it’s water but I have no clue what body of water or where it was shot
