(Mark Citret – Sts. Peter & Paul Church, North Beach)
This picture was taken in 2001, by American photographer Mark Citret in front of Sts. Peter and Paul Church. Although there is not a lot taking place within the image, it is still filled with movement and light. This photo is the stone staircase and side pillars of a church. The diagonal bar crossing the screen adds an immense amount of interest to this photograph due to the split-screen effect. This middle line draws the viewer’s attention to the bar then down or up the rest of the image. Personally, my favorite aspect of this image is the reflection of the railing on the side of the staircase. Due to the wall next to the stairs being different depths the reflection of the railing is varied in height, creating a beautiful linear pattern.
